The story behind Elevate
Why I have traded spreadsheets for smoothies 🥤
It started with a simple idea: I wanted to build something of my own, and I saw a clear gap in the market for genuinely healthy, on-the-go drinks. There was a clear opportunity, and it made sense on paper. But the real reason I started Elevate is more personal.
I moved to London six years ago, fresh-faced and ambitious, ready to climb the ranks of finance. I landed a role in Investment Banking, then Private Equity, working on high-profile deals, long hours, little sleep. The kind of job you’re supposed to be proud of.
From the outside, it looked like I was doing everything “right.” But on the inside, my body was starting to shut down.
I was exhausted. I ignored the signs. I just told myself I just needed a weekend off, a better skincare routine, a new supplement, a new workout routine. Until the symptoms became impossible to ignore and I had to do something about it.
I started focusing on my health with the same intensity I’d once reserved for pitch decks and deal rooms. I went back to basics: nutrition, movement, rest.
But as I tried to rebuild, I noticed something: eating healthy on the go in London was… weirdly difficult.
Everything felt either overly processed or sugar-filled in disguise - or it was trying too hard to be “clean” without actually being satisfying. I couldn’t find anything that was both genuinely good for me and genuinely delicious.
And I kept thinking: why does eating well have to feel like a compromise?
That’s when the idea for Elevate started to form. A place where wellness meets pleasure. Where function meets flavour. Where you can walk in, grab a smoothie or a protein shake, and know that it’s actually supporting your body - full transparency, no BS, premium functional ingredients, no hidden 40-ingredient lists you can’t pronounce.
I left my job in May 2024. Traded spreadsheets for smoothies. Learned how to operate an espresso machine (badly, at first). Raised a round of funding, supported by incredible advisors and investors. In a few weeks, we’re opening our very first location in London.
It still doesn’t feel real.
And while I’m proud of the business side - the fundraise, the partnerships, the product development, I’m even prouder of the why.
Elevate isn’t just a brand, it’s something I wish I had when I needed it most. I built it for people who’ve felt the same. Who want to take better care of themselves without giving up the things that make life enjoyable.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading.
More coming soon,
Julia

Great work, and enjoyed following the journey so far - look forward to the launch!
So cool that you started your own business. I agree there are hardly any options nowadays in general for a nutritious on the go meal
